After The Race

After the race relax at the heated festival party tent and toast your finish with friends. The post-race party starts at 9 a.m. with music throughout the day by Acoustic Relapse, Ashland High School Jazz Band and Russ Darwin. The award ceremony for the WhistleStop 5K & 10K races is at 10:30 am. inside the heated festival tent.

At 2:30 pm all Marathon & Half-marathon awards will be presented in the heated festival tent.

After the awards Russ Darwin will continue to play until 5:30pm.

THEN the WhistleStop BLUES AND BREWS Festival is BACK!

From 6-8pm Listen to the blues music of “MilkBone” while sampling scores of microbrews.Saturday evening  runners and area residents will enjoy dancing the night away while you will indulge yourself by sampling varieties of microbrews and area mead wines in the heated festival tent.

Get ready to enjoy dancing the night away while listening to the music of two spectacular bands during the WhistleStop Blues & Brews Festival the Grand Finale of the WhistleStop Weekend!

Starting the evening off with the talented, well known Minnesota blues/rock band MilkBone.  MilkBone is ready to grab a guitar, sing and strum their professional sound. They are ready to bring down the house with music that will bring you to your feetdancing feet of course! With the reputation of playing the best in blues, they also add in jazz, folk, and authentic rock ’n roll to their already popular blues sound, describing themselves as “a blues band with a rock ’n’ roll attitude!”   MilkBone’s self-proclaimed musical anchors are the “foot-stomping old Chicago-style blues” that they have been playing since 1996.  These talented musicians write their own music, play original songs and show superb talent as they rock the night away!  Milkbone has played in numerous blues festivals and other music hotspots from Duluth to Minneapolis and Ely and into Wisconsin. Their musical talent includes playing Allman Brothers to ZZ Top.

Tickets for the Blues and Brews Fest are:

  • Pre-purchased tickets for the Blue and Brews are $10 with the brew sampling and $15 at the door.
  • Pre-purchased tickets for the Blue and Brews $5 without the brew sampling and $10 at the door.

Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance.  Don’t wait!  Ticket prices will be $5 more at the door.

After the you have sampled the brews and danced to MilkBone we will FINISH THE NIGHT OFF with the local talent of  “THE WHITECAPS”,  from Washburn, WI will be playing 8:30-11pm.  A popular 5-piece band playing “A rolling mix of rock”.  They are a fun, relaxed band offering a wide variety of music that will get you on your feet dancing the night away.  Always in popular demand, The Whitecaps have played at numerous events throughout the Chequamegon Bay Area, Northern Wisconsin and Duluth.  These local musicians have been friends for years and have become a favorite classical rock band in the area.  Their line-up includes a male lead vocalist/ lead guitar, rhythm guitarist/backup vocals, bass guitarist, drummer, and keyboard player.  Check out their Facebook Page for more details and their other events during 2023.
